April – July 2016
The Adelaide City Library has had a number of artist residencies in the last couple of years. They aim to both engage their community of users, creatively, and develop outcomes that can invigorate their Francis Street entrance (just off of Rundle Mall). During my residency I will be working together with the City Library on a project that will result in a fantastic cargo tricycle that will make its home in Francis Street between June and August this year. The premise of my project is to engage the notion of ‘Ideas for machines to save a city’ (of which I believe a bicycle may be). Drawings, notes and ideas developed during workshop sessions will form the external embellishment of a structure that will be carried by the machine that I am making.
Here’s a couple of shots of the final outcome installed in the laneway which abutts the Librasy.
The drawings and process were developed to fill out a number of window display cases in the Francis St laneway.
You can see some shots from the build of the tricycle here – http://wild-motion.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/stretch-cargo-trike-ute.html
